<image:caption>“I enthusiastically endorse the [CRC] on behalf of Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies at Western Washington University. Having worked with Sanai Anang for over a year, I’m well acquainted with the intentions and goals of these projects. I feel they foster complimentary service outcomes for participating Fairhaven students and serves as a bridge for scholars between college and their industry of choice. I believe it will build positive professional relationships between our graduates and the local communities of Whatcom, Skagit, and King County.” — Jack Herring, Vice Provost Western Washington University</image:caption>

<image:title>About - Up next, we are partnering with select school districts to support high school students in their future aspirations. The SYEP program in Seattle, which our founder participated while in high school, provided a good model to follow with this program. The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) supports young people (ages 16 to 24) from qualifying-income households and communities that experience racial, social, and economic disparities. The goal is to increase youth and young adults' ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them. It currently is forced to use a lottery system to choose participants due to massive demand. These types of programs are extremely popular and provide a valuable resource to communities to allow internships that would usually not be paid to be subsidized by the local government.</image:title>

      <image:title>About</image:title>
<image:caption>According to NACE’s 2019 Internship and Co-op Survey Report, only 60.8% of internships are paid. The opportunity for students to gain valuable work-based learning experiences are missed by those most disenfranchised in our communities by long-standing systems inequality. Many lower income students cannot afford the lost wages incurred by taking an unpaid internship in hopes of a future higher paying job.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I am Karie Jane (KJ), from a small community in the Skagit Valley. I found my way to higher education as a thirty-five year old single mom trying to make a better life for myself and my son. I am a first-generation college student with a background of addiction and low socioeconomic standing, which certainly aided in my decision to apply to the Human Services program offered by the Woodring School at Western Washington University. I will graduate with my undergrad degree at the end of Winter quarter.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My name is Julie Rivera-Hernandez, and I am a first-generation student. I am in my 4th year at Western Washington University and a part of the Human Services program. I am also a mentor for incoming freshmen who are a part of the Future Woodring Scholars program. After I graduate, I plan to enter the Rehabilitation Counseling program that Western offers at the Everett campus.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My name is David Schakarov, and I am a fourth-year Human Services student at Western Washington University. Counseling has become a passion of mine, after having an impactful experience with a mental health counselor at Western. I want to become a mental health counselor because I believe there must be a greater need for accessibility and resources to mental health services. After I graduate, I plan on going on to graduate school for mental health clinical counseling.</image:caption>
